Saint Jean Du Gard

Many of the Protestants temples (church buildings) in France are in need of repair. The Protestant Temple of Saint Jean du Gard in the Cevennes in southern France has sent a request for help. The building dates from c. 1827 and is the property of the borough. Protestantism has been central to the identity of the village since c. 1562 when many of the people in the area converted to Protestantism and built a temple with stones taken form the Catholic Church. The temple was later destroyed and the present building has fallen into disrepair. The building has exceptional acoustics and is used by the village for various musical and religious festivals, as well as for baptisms, weddings and funerals. If you are interested in supporting the restoration, you can contact Eglise Protestante Unie de Saint Jean du Gard, 108 Grand rue, 30270 Saint Jean Du Gard, France
