Sur les pas des Huguenots/On the trail of the Huguenots

After the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in October 1685, more than 150,000 French Protestants (Huguenots) tried to escape persecution in France. Those who lived in Languedoc and who were able, sought immediate  refuge in Switzerland, Germany and Holland. An international trail, "Sur les pas des Huguenots," about 2,000 km (1243 miles), was inaugurated 19 Aug 2015. The trail leads from the Musee du Desert in Mialet to Bad Karishafen. It follows the Chemin camisard to Pont de Montvert and then goes to Die where it follows the Valley of the Drome, passing through Le Poet-Laval. There are villages along the route where lodging and food are available. The trail is open to individuals and to tour groups.
